If I had a choice. I'd run the procurciut plat 2. Over the fmf

Why? Better power? Power in a better range? When I checked PC's website tonight they only listed the Platinum available for the KX500, no Platinum 2 or Works.

To return to the original thread, the explanations and information provided in this thread are fantastic. I have the FMF Fatty on a '00 KX500. How does the Fatty compare to the Desert Gnarly or PC?

Thanks.

I just ordered a Pro Circuit platinum 2 off PayBay so there are some around..
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

OK. Found some Platinum 2 in stock at online MC shop for same price as lowest Ebay price. So I can get one, but why the PC over FMF? Platinum 2 product description description mentions more low to mid-range power; is this at the expense of the upper range?

Thanks for the information.

Ok guys, for anyone else still trying to tell the difference between the Desert Gnarly and the Woods Gnarly, here are some more pics of the 2 types of pipes on the same bike.

First is the Woods Gnarly and Turbine Core spark arrester:

Second is the Desert Gnarly and Power Core silencer:

I haven't been able to ride the bike yet to evaluate the change in power, but I'm sure it'll be serious!

I rode it with the Gnarly Desert....and it rocks!  It lost about 20% of the low RPM power compared with the woods pipe, but feels like it gained about 40% in mid and top-end!
