This is a great thread.  It really explains why my half way worn out 90 KX5 with a Pro Circuit Platinum had lots more top end than my fresh 95 KX5 with the FMF low end gnarly.

I think I definitely need to get the FMF KX5 desert pipe!

Well I got my pipe and silencer on last night and took it for a spin this evening.  The mid-top power is absolutely ridiculous compared to before!  I really can't believe the difference it made to the power and delivery. It went from powerful to insane mid-top. I did notice a slight loss in low rpm power. But for me that's no problem. I highly recommend the gnarly desert or PC equivelent's to anyone lookin for mid-high snap.  Best $307 I ever spent (pipe w/power core).  Thanks again everyone for the input and pics.  :-D

you're welcome....the little loss in low end can be easily overcome by a simple grope of the clutch lever :-D
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

No problem, thats what we are here for, glad you are super happy with the results, and remember to clean the pipe after every ride and wipe it down with a light coat of wd-40 to keep it looking as new as possible.  The pipe in the picture I posted for you at that point had like 8 good rides on it and it still looks great.
I once heard my buddy Bill ask Danny Hamel after a race....

Ok I'll have to do that Usmc, I cleaned it but didn't wd-40 it.  Going to do that right now especially if it kept your pipe that nice I thought the pic you posted was when you first put it on   :-D    Never seen a new looking pipe on a ridden bike   More ppl should use wd-40 apparently lol thanks

Make sure you don't dent the pipe if you go down......no amount of cleaning and wd-40 will take out dents.

I ordered the Desert Gnarly pipe and Powercore silencer yesterday!  :-D

I can't wait to swap out the Woods Gnarly and Turbine Core spark arrester.

I've heard that the spark arresters cut the top-end power back a bit too.  Anybody had that experience?

It'll be nice to have both setups in case I want to switch back and forth.

Your gonna be really impressed! I'm sure it cuts back a little all I can say is if is a night and day difference. Changes the power output from woahhh! To what am I ridin?!    Kinda feels like a 600cc crotch rocket in the dirt.      And with that pipe combo I noticed the higher the rpm the more power it puts out. Haven't felt it ever sign off like the woods and turbinecore did.  Congrats on the purchase! And hang on

Ok guys, for anyone else still trying to tell the difference between the Desert Gnarly and the Woods Gnarly, here are some more pics of the 2 types of pipes on the same bike.

First is the Woods Gnarly and Turbine Core spark arrester:

Second is the Desert Gnarly and Power Core silencer:

I haven't been able to ride the bike yet to evaluate the change in power, but I'm sure it'll be serious!

Just rode mine this weekend with a new FMF Gnarly Desert, and all I can say is you WILL like it!
When in doubt, throttle out!
