head scratching???????

I got this 86 KX 500 from north Az, after it got here one night about 10,00,
i rolled it into the garage, ,was gonna ride it the next day,
tried to start it to no avail,
been that way since a yr a a half a go,
never got to ride it never got it started.
guy in az said that it was running good there before i got it, but ive tried every way to get this thing runing short of having a guy pull me on a tow rope behind a pickup.
Az and here in kansas dont have that much elevation change so the jet's would be ok I think.
Id get a pop like backfireing out of it alot
then nothing.
carb  is ok i think lean bike over to get excess gas out of drain tube's nothing comes out. ,get good plug and fresh premix and go to kick it,,,,,,,,,, nothing.all I can think of is either the coil is bad, or something in the charging system is bad?

did you try any of the suggestions from the other thread you started. is it getting a good spark?

your carb is probably all gummed up from sitting so long take it off and clean it real good and make sure your jets aren't pluged up if you leaned the bike over and no fuel came out something is clogged so I think a carb rebuild would be recommended

I agree with Cobbs.  No gas outta the carb indicates carb issues.  A can of carb spray might just do the trick.  But then again, might need a thorough going through.
