2000 KX250 KAWASAKI CHEAPIE REBUILD?
Here's the story.
I bought a 2000 kx250 from a good friend.
It was a little tired but I rode it a full day and had a great time on it.
So, I bought it for one of my employees to ride.
Here's a pic as we bought it:

We went to Winchester Bay for a 3 day ride.
On the last day, at the end of the day, on the last straight away back to where we were staying my employee seized the crank.
This was his first bike and he was bummed out.
I told him not to worry as we could always part it out  :-D
Well, it just so happens I had a new crank, crank bearings, and gaskets sitting in storage.
His cylinder was sleeved so I sent it to a master engine builder to have it bored.
It cleaned up at 68.5mm which is the max wiseco pison size for this bike...
While we had it apart my employee wanted to do a little work to it which led to taking it all apart for painting ect.
The one on the right is who the bike is for, the one on the left is a guy I have known for years that loves to tinker

That is beautiful. Everyone posting all these super nice looking bikes is making me want to strip my 500 down and find someone that can powdercoat. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see it finished.

Here's where they were yesterday when I left.

Looks like they made good progress.
I guess I better order him some new plastics  :-)

Looks excellent. Those plastics don't look bad. Maybe a little wax and they'd look new again?

Stickers make it go faster. IIRC it's 5mph per sticker. Unless it's a NOS sticker then it's 10mph per sticker :P

Put fuel with non synthetic oil in it, engine ice, and trans fluid.
Turned it over a few times and then kicked it like we meant it.

Did two heat cycles on it today and tightened and adjusted a few things.
Tomorrow it's time for a very easy ride.
This rebuild cost us about 450.
We were lucky to have a new crank on the shelf and a cylinder that had been sleeved previously.

Well.... It took a little longer then it appears because we had to order a 68.5MM piston and it took a bit longer to get then we thought.
If I did my math right that should make this bike a 265cc.

Very nice job. I think it looks great without stickers.
