please help with jetting question
« on: July 14, 2011, 03:07:06 PM »
Ok so first let me say i am working on a 99 honda 125. I know it is not a kx but I belong to the forum and could really use some help. The question has to do with jetting. I picked up this bike and rebuilt the topend and the bike fires right up but lacked power when i gave it full throttle. The bike will get up and go just struggles out of the hole. It seems to be missing the whole powerband. Top end seems to be fine. The bike seems to idle really high and when i adjust the idle it does not seem to make a difference. I have gone through the carb and cleaned it muliple times. The factory pilot is 52 and the main is 175. I am using a 50 pilot and a 178 main. If any body can give me some advice I would greatly appreiate it.  Thanks for your time. Dan

What your describing (if there aren't any air leaks etc)  sounds like you need fuel idle to 3/4 throttle.

Will the bike run with the choke on?  (easy way to see if your lean.)
It may stumble at idle, but if it improves your midrange.. you need more fuel.
A few other things you might check, throttle is closing completely, airboot look ok? Throttle slide worn alowing air around the slide and I've also seen carb cap lose the rubber seal in the cap sucking air...
   Good luck,
