2012 450/500af Radiator hose routing?
« on: January 21, 2015, 07:50:20 AM »
Hey guys I'm having trouble figuring out the routing of the hoses for my radiators on my 500af build. On the right radiator I understand the bottom hose goes directly into the water pump but where does the one go that's towards the bottom and at a 45 deg pointing to the engine? Also, from the cylinder head , does the hose go down to the radiator nipple on the left radiator right next to it or does it go up and make a connection at the top? I'm getting confused on this. I tried searching for that PDF file on the how to build a 500af but had no luck. Does anyone have a drawing for he  modified 450 radiators? It seems like here is more crossover than was on the old 500

Thank you kxpegger. One more question, what are my options as far as hoses? If like a set of blue hoses but service honda won't sell me a set so is there another option for finding hoses, specifically I need the correct size diameter and would love the bend for the top end to bottom end on the right side of motor.

i got a green set of silicone hoses though u could choose other colours on ebay for a cheap £28.99 delivered, thought to cheep to be good but were good quality, kit was for kx500 1995 came with everything i needed and a few spare bends etc that were not for the bike or one kit fits all, the people were helpfull and when i needed a straight section to make something work they sent it no problems, I'm sure if u email them what u need lengths etc someone can help.

I tried to order a spare blue set a couple of years ago but they only had green and weren't planning on anymore blue. SH gets a little territorial with some of their stuff at times from reading other posts. I don't know if their suppliers are a little slow or SH doesn't want to sell their inventory and maybe come up short for a build. Maybe they think everyone has a spare 12K for an entire AF bike? I don't have any problems getting AF parts from SH because I bought my AF from them. They've always been helpful where my AF is concerned.

I did have a problem a few years back with some Suzuki plastic that I ordered. The front fender bag had been opened and the fender inside was not OEM even though the bag had an OEM label. They tried to make me out the scammer and would not agree to make it right unless I returned the fender and paid for shipping. How does that prove anything? I told the OEM sales manager that I had purchased an AF and parts for many years so why would I do this. Overall response was not positive. I run six dirt bikes and have not bought parts from them since then.
