graphics on the gas tank

Hi!

I know it is difficult to put stickers on the gas tank because of the fumes.
But the tank of my k5 is finished with car paint, which doesn?t flake off because of the fumes.
Do you think the paint holds back the fumes (i don?t really believe that) and i can put stickers on the tank?

Hi, to my knowledge, car paint is not a closed seal. That's why primer is needed on cars for example. So, the car paint actually breaths through the paint and that would negatively affect any decals mounted on top of the paint. With this said, primer should flake of a plastic gas tank. But on the other side, there are plastic primers as well. Hmm, might be worth to try out.

i dont remember were i saw this but i think it was a white KTM tank. the guy had a blater installed so he could paint it and it wouldn't yellow.

Yeah we tried it with the best DuPont plastic primer and acrylic enamel-a buddy owns a body shop, and the gas vapor lifted it off just as pretty as you please.  If you want graphics on your tank, make sure they are perforated gas tank stickers.  They work pretty good.
