1989 transmission fit in a 1988 motor?
« on: September 02, 2010, 02:37:26 AM »
Ive had some issues with my 1988 transmission and was wondering if the 1989 transmission will fit into the motor without any problems. I believe they where a little different.

go to kawasaki.com/owners info/parts diagrams and have a look.the pictures are usually accurate enough to be able to tell by looking.
And lo, I did loft the front wheel and carried it forth to the unbelievers, and cast it down before them and said unto them ''look now upon the might of my throttle control ye pitiful cretinous ones''
And the unbelievers did quake in their boots....

Hello.
The shafts fit 88-04 kx500.
The gears all fit 88-04 except for these 3
INPUT 2ND,20T
INPUT 3RD,22T
OUTPUT 2ND,29T
That means that 88-89 have the same gearing, 90-04 have the same gearing.
So, you could swap in an 04 transmission in your 88 and you would get the updated gearing  :-o

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
