Seat Cover
« on: September 27, 2010, 02:43:11 PM »
So at first I was wanting to replace all the exterior parts on my 2000 K5 with stock stuff.  After researching OEM prices I'm thinking I'm not going to do this.  The biggest issue was the seat cover.  I can not find where you can order just a OEM seat cover, it only list the seat for 200 and some bucks, which is a big no.  I've tried Ebay and all those but haven't found 2000 seat cover or graphics, so it looks like I'll be doing FX aftermarket unless someone knows anything different?

I'm also thinking about doing all new plastics through OEM though, is there a company that has plastic as good as OEM?

Thanks.

Hey thanks, do you know if the Ceet Racing seat cover has the KX logo on it?

I purchsed the Ceet "tall" foam, and grip type cover. LOVE it ! The biggest advantage with running the tall seat, is it gives you a bit more smooth transition getting your ballz up on top of the fuel tank for cornering ! And of course it's a bit more comfy for high speed dirt road riding sitting down !   :-D

Here's one on Ebay right now :

I think OEM plastics are also a bit expensive. They will likely fit the bike better and come with the OEM graphics already applied. You can get aftermarket kits that include both fenders, shrouds and shock guards for good prices. I tried finding a Stock Purple Seat Cover with the "Kawasaki" printed down the side for my 500. Purple was for the 96's and even though mine is a 97 it would match my '96 250's look. (still looking for purple shrouds) Anyway, the guys at FX sent me a plain Purple Seat Cover with no Logos. I called to complain/figure out the problem, and they said that they at one time had paid to use the Kawasaki Logo, but they were only allowed to print off a certain amount and they are mostly gone. they do not plan to make another run with Kawi logos. I was thinking about having my name and/or riding number printed on the cover locally, if I could be sure that the print shop would use a durable ink and not destroy the cover.  Post what you find. Its a common problem...

Thanks for researching, I wonder how reputable that site is?  I talked to Ceet Racing and their Lime Green seat cover does not have the KX logo on it.  I'm thinking I might go with the standard black seat cover by Ceet Racing and get Factory Effex graphics.  We'll see though.
