magneto pick up

I bought a 98 kx125 motor in a shifter kart and the magneto pick up screws came loose and looks like it hit the flywheel and chiped the magnet, so I re-ajusted  it to the right gap and now the kart breaks up all the at WOT all the time, the plug seems to have good spark when I check it, but who knows when its spinning really fast, could the magnet be the problem?

 you may want to do a compression test on it.

  Bruuup,  BDI is messing around, I'll look for some ways to check that stuff, I'm not sure if I have info on a '98.
I do however have a manual another member sent me. KX 125 & 250 M1 & M2  '03 & '04 ,  shoot me a note at Croft_RW@yahoo.com
  I'll send it, there is alot of good info even if the specs may be different.

One thing I really do suggest is that you replace the flywheel. I have seen them come appart after they make contact with the pulse coil or stator coil. I had one that had only made slight contact and then completely exploded and destroyed the stator and all behind the flywheel. It may very well be the pulse coil is messed up causing the prob. Or the magnets may be chipped in a way as to shorten the pulse signal to the cdi. If that's the case I would think the engine would run worse at high rpm do to the spark duration being to short. Pictures would be of great help.

what is the gap at the pick up coil to flywheel trigger.

Ya that was the problem stupid magnet was toast had to buy a whole new stator.
