New Guy - 62650
« on: July 08, 2010, 04:44:54 AM »
Picked up a '99 KX60 back in September '09.  I was told it "just needs a new piston and rings".  Sure.  It's the people selling their "easy fix" that I'm the most skeptical of.  Long story short, I drive down to St. Louis to get the bike and discover that the engine is rotten from the crankshaft out...lower rod bearing failure has trashed the squish band, piston, plating, bore, and main bearings.  I drove down to buy it at $250...I pick it up for $175 against my better judgement.  Somebody needed to rescue the little KX.  So here I am.

My only other KX experience was a nasty cartwheel on a KX125 that put me in the hospital for a few days...it's better that I don't tell that story though.  Let's just say the doc asked me if I wanted "fixed" before he sewed me up.

 Hey Diesel,
Glad to have you with us,  Vey cool fixin' up the bike for the kid(s)  I say kids cause all kinds of friends come out of the woodwork when they find out your boys got a bike... :-D
Who knows, maybe you'll be the instigator to have all the kids getting a bikes!
I know it has been great with myself and my boys 'till they went off to college.
Good luck on the build and best of luck on starting the next generation out in the dirt!!
