Piston Prices from cylinder re-plater?
« on: June 01, 2010, 08:04:12 AM »
I read the thread on cylinder plateing companies and US-Chrome seemed to be the most loved. I'm filling out a work order for my engine, only I dont know how their piston prices are. If I check the piston kit and top end bearing kit boxes am I going to be sorry? are their prices really high?

Pricing is fare. they need the piston to correctly size the bore. so if you get your own it will need to be shipped to them with the jug. IMO just check the box and save your self the hassle.

It sounds tempting, but I can buy a Wiseco piston for 133 shipped from OEM cycle. If they on the other hand charge me 200 though, it will sort of hurt :( Just wondering if anyone remembered what they charged them last time, I guess I could call them but that would be too easy lol.

when I went though Langcourt. They charged me only $140 for a 86.5 over piston. Call them and make sure they will match your price. Thats what I did. Just make sure to write on the work order and make a copy for your records.

Ow.

Sofar my estimates are about 130 for piston, 40 for gaskets, 200 for plating, so ~370 in total for top end.
