Does any one know where to find a cheap tool for splitting cases? Manual says something about a steering wheel puller.

I'm going to buy one of these.

Please let us know how it works, especially since it is over $100 cheaper than the motion pro one.

Might be awhile before I use. I just performed complete rebuild and borrowed my buddies Motion Pro. I'm been putting together a list of tools I keep borrow when perform major repairs so I can purchase them for myself.

I have been kicking around the idea of making a case splitter for a while but mine would not be universal. Instead it would be engine specific, It would be made from a piece of 1/2" plate and would cover the crank and counter shaft. It would have two screws one for the crank and one for the counter shaft.

That was my original plan, but lack of a decent pillar drill and other kit, I went down this route.

This also cost me less than $ 10 and hours of time drilling and cutting.

I will let you know how it works if I get one.  I will be having to spilt the case on my wifes WR250F here very shortly.  The clutch blew up and sent metal pieces through out the engine.  It looked like glitter when I pulled the oil filter out!
