I didnt think I was "personally attacking" BDI. If I came across that way then maybe I messed up somewhere. I thought we were just having a hearty debate. I understand his point of view regarding China and tainted goods. I was just trying to make the point that everyones situation is not the same and should still be considered equally. Especially while some people are enjoying the very same lead tainted goods they seem to be so against.
As far as personal attacks go, I would consider THIS a "personal attack". Not to mention a dramatic and slanted misrepresentation of my actual posts...
Judging by the factory honda part I just bought for my kids bike that came in a honda wrapper with a honda part number from the honda shop that had a little gold sticker on it that said made in china, I would say yes. Japan is out sourcing to China and why wouldn't they, China can make it for them for cheaper then they could make it themselves. I love it, first I'm a hippi tree hugger now Im just a dick head because my kids have bikes. I think the ban sucks but I'm not going to let it get me down I'm sure it will get fixed. The only thing that has got me down is arguing with some $%#* that thinks its my fault and thinks that some how I'm repressing him with my opinion.
By the way... I NEVER stated that it was your fault, BDI, nor did I call you a dick because your kids had bikes. Just the fact that you were all for the ban if it was punching China in the mouth meanwhile causing my son to sacrifice the same enjoyment your kids get through the lead tainted goods you already purchased. Doesnt sound like a very fair perspective to me and that has been my WHOLE ENTIRE POINT throughout this thread. Meanwhile you insinuated that I was one of the winy snot nosed spoiled Americans. If you expect Americans to sacrifice, and are going to vocalize such beliefs, then you could at least sacrifice along with the rest of us, which was another point I was trying to make. But sure... I was making the personal attacks if thats what you all decide. I'm happy to be the bad guy for bringing up a more fair perspective for ALL involved.

As far as the childish comments regarding the stickers on my bike... Although I dont agree with BDI's point of view on this thread, I'm still an adult and can respect his artistic ability and appreciate the stylish looks of the BDI skull (although he may now wish I would not sport them any longer). You may not appreciate my point of view regarding the ban, or the way I went about trying to make my points regarding fairness for all (maybe I didnt do such a good job), but I am still a grown man and conduct myself accordingly. I refuse to stoop as some have done very recently. I stand proud, respectful, and if it comes to it... toe to toe with the best.

My opinion of BDI has not changed whatsoever although his opinion of me seems to be tainted now. Seems we both stand up for what we are passionate about, and arent so quick to sit back down. He had a point of view, which I mostly agreed with. I just thought maybe he wasnt considering all the effects on all people affected by this ban which I thought wasnt vary fair and was hoping to point out something maybe he hadnt considered. Especially considering that he and his children already profited from these so called "tainted goods" yet is very vocal about expecting others to sacrifice without them. I tried to portray my situation and my perspective and the respect and consideration I feel it deserves. Like I said before... I'm happy to be the bad guy for this and stand proud as such.

Ummmm, at the risk of wizzing gas on the fire......

I had the chance to speak with a dealer about this and not much new to report, you have read it all hear...more than just paint.....target ages...etc.

EXCEPT when I asked about floor plan and what he was going to do with the $$$ of the bikes?

to paraphrase his answer...

The manufactures are responding to this 'public health' issue like it is chum for lawyers and their really costly civil suits. The early word on the street is that the manufactures will be buying all the bikes back....strictly to limit this exposure.

sorry

Likewise my friend. Like I said before, I too agree with your point of view. I was just "playing the other role".

Remember that without different ideas and points of view, no one learns anything new.  Being in Canada I am inuslated from this but I sympathize with the mess that has been created.  I can understand the aim of the legislators in preventing the importation of kids toys that contain harmful substances, however they have a duty to the public to recognize the ramifications of "all encompasing" legislation.  In that they have failed miserably.  I just hope that they are man enough to admit the error and correct it than fight to the death over it to "save" the public.  I hate it when governments spend all their time tackling the easy stuff and seemly ignore the tough tuff to deal with (crystal meth for example - nice to see some all encompasing hammer down legislation there). Well I guess it's ok to drink the battery acid just don't lick the lead plates (for now). United we stand, divided we fall. Cam.

Does anyone no where this issue is right now?
I saw Malcom Smith on youtube defying the ban and selling kids bike to some high profile MX Celebrities. He said he might have to go to jail but didn't care.
I guess a person can at least still buy used?
GDubb did you get a bike for your kid?
