What to do when your 450 won't start
« on: September 08, 2008, 05:32:53 AM »
Went out for ride on Sunday but after about 40 kicks the 450 would not start.  Then some 6 year old kid pointed at the back of my bike and said "hey mister whats that plug doing in your exhaust pipe". Oops (he should have said hey stupid......). Cam.

d**n, I bet your foot was ready to disown you after that. My old 426 was horrible after a few kicks, I couldn't imagine 40 kicks..

When those plugs came out years ago I had to have one and I did the same thing. I had the wife drop me off in the desert and I went to kicking and kicking and kicking  :x. That was way way back when the kawi was stock. The other day I started the kawi in the garage and as usual it started right up. When I was done I turned to see my plug laying 20" away at the end of the driveway. I think with a perfectly sealed exhaust and comp ratio that would burn water the bike no longer cares if the plug is in, it just shoots it right out.

I used to have an old Husky that was a 40 kick wonder. I am positive there was no wash plug in the pipe.

I used to put paper int he airboot when cleaning the airbox.
You will never forget it to take it out when you did once.

Fourbangers don't start cold whithout choke on.
Also a thing you chech twice if you forgot it the last time.

I changed the tank on my k5 once kicked it for about a half hour just to finally find out I had pinched the fuel line while putting the other tank on Talk about tired
