Rear Wheel ?
« on: February 09, 2008, 11:40:23 AM »
I have a 94 KX5 rear wheel for sale and I know it only has 2 bearings and my 2001 has three bearings.

I was wondering if anyone knows if the only difference between the newer and older rear hubs is the spacer width and of course the third bearing?

Alan :-D

Yep it will fit! Some one else ask first, however he is not sure, because it is a 2 bearing wheel. I will keep you posted!

Thanks Alan :-D

I believe they all fit. However  the 97 and newer have the third bearing.

Yep, I know! The question was, can you cut down the spacer and put three bearings in the older ones with just two bearings?

I would say no.  From what I recall last time I changed bearing on my 92 there is not enough casting to support the bearing outer race. I could be wrong though. Cam.

You can do it, it's kinda of a bi**h to get set up, but once set up it doesn't take that long. I've got a copuple of hubs I've done it to.
