One of our members Has already done this! i did a search on Tecate and came up with some post back in 2003!

91k5punisher was right. There is clearly not enough room in there for a second motor. Now I feel like a complete jacka$$. I bet with the right gearing and good dirt that thing will yank your arms BigGreenMachine.

My 86 Tecate-3/86 KX500 project is complete except for lengthening the swingarm.  The project and all free time was put off due to getting married and kids.  The crank HAS to be balanced or the Tecate-4 will shake itself apart and possibly break the frame.  Balancing the crank will shift the engine vibration to a RPM that you rarely constantly run at.  Dave Roberts at ILR Performance is a Tecate guru and knows about such conversions.  I don't have is info. handy, but a bit of surfing should help you contact him.  The motor will bolt right in with minimal mods (front and top mounts mainly).

i have never seen a  tecate-4 up close. were they all that popular? they dont look like they would have very good handleing. would it be worth the work?? i would rather find a LT500...

JBKX, you need to visit 3wheelerworldforums more often man. You should post some new pics of your KX500 conversion. Have some pics of your 250 and its sweet! I mean really SWEET!!!

I with ya on the LT500 as far as i know that was the only factory produced 500cc 2stroke quad . I still think a tecat3 or tri-z with a big bore motor would be insane to say the least  :evil: :evil: :evil:
