v force 3 to leave the insert or not?
« on: June 03, 2010, 02:33:31 PM »
I got a set of v force 3 reeds and there is a insert that makes the intake track smaller.
Do I leave it in there?

Seems like I should but have to ask.

Thanks all.

The insert smooths out the flow of air/fuel through the reeds. It's best to leave it in. Uncontrolled turbulence is bad = less power. That is also why everyone is putting in the reed spacers. To move the reeds away from the turbulence caused by the piston moving at high rate of speed. I made a 1/4 inch thick spacer just to try the idea and wow what a difference it makes. Eventually I will get a spacer form JFab to compare the difference.
It's hard to keep a drivers license riding a 2 stroke dirt bike on the street.  If you drive within the law they are VERY boring.

Sounds good.
Thanks for your wisdom Goat.
I`ve been fixing stuff and the forks are next up.
I`ll keep the spacer in mind.

Ride on!

Anyone ever done a before and after dyno with a spacer? I wonder what the ideal distance is.

Hey Craz,
It only takes about thirty minutes to install and remove the stuffer, maybe you could give us your opinion on what worked best for you.
Not only would the stuffer keep the air moving smoothly through the assembly, (Laminar Flow-Goat) But wouldn't it also increase the velocity of the air/fuel mix
 (venturi effect-Bernoulli's Principle:http://home.earthlink.net/~mmc1919/venturi.html )
  and help "pack" the crankcase?
