Clutch Basket

Hey Guy's. Had some pretty weather here today. Spent 7 hours today putting my bike back together. But I ran into an issue that maybe o.k or not. My clutch basket likes to move back an forth about .020-.030 on the shaft. My bike has a washer that goes on first then the basket and basket bearing/sleeve. Next there is another washer the that goes on the shaft and then the inner hub goes on with another washer and nut. Any idea's why the basket likes to move back and forth? Anybody had their basket and hub off here lately? Thanks.

  That sounds like way too much play. Mine has almost no play, maybe a few thou. Possibly a shim is missing off the shaft?  You may have never noticed since by adjusting the clutch it will preload the rod that actuates the clutch so it would push the clutch basket over the 0.030" to where it is supposed to be. Cam.

I going to double check the shims. Would it make any diff. that the push rod has no load on it due to the fact I have not installed the clutch arm or the cable. I have only installed the inner hub, no clutch plates or the pressure plate. I stop installing parts after I noticed the movement.
