The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

KX500 Engine in a Yamaha 94 FZR 600
« Reply #6 on: June 29, 2016, 05:07:41 PM »
The plans I have with my 87 KX500 is to transplant it into a Yamaha 94 FZR 600 & race it in vintage / classic racing events including track days. Any advise / help would be welcomed. First up programmable ignition what is the hot set up. Primary gearing based upon the KX500 transmission any recommendations on primary gearing for the track. I'm planning on hydro forming a pipe. I have built several for my Yamaha CT1 racer.

Thanks Rob

Somewhere between 96-98.
I posted this info on another thread you started.

No, for the most part they are identical from 89-04.
Mostly just things like the shift shaft, rotor, stator, and exhaust valve arm.
Nothing to worry about... I order everything for a 04 and I own from 89-01 lol
