1997 kx 125 rev limited
« on: April 18, 2015, 02:29:06 AM »
just totally rebuilt the engine but it seem that is has a rev limiter and the engine doesn't produce horse power, not RPM, not explosion of horse power.

i've already asked to my friend (motorcycle mechanic) and he told me that probaly was somethingh in the cdi or on the pickup, so i've found another (used)completely cdi, stator and pickup but the engine has the same problem.

The engine is ok, the exhaust valves are ok and the v-force too.

Is there someone able to tell me somethings?

bye,
Andrea

It could be many different things.
You will have narrow down the potential problems.
How many pounds of compression do you have? We need numbers.
Have you checked the Ohm specs of the stator?
What is your jetting?
Have you done a leak down check?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

the cylinder and piston are new, so i think the compression is ok.
The jetting are max 165, min 48.
I don't know how mesuring the ohm and the exhact value.
"Leak down check" what means?
I already had this problem with the old engine and when i damaged the cylinder and rod and i made all new, i thought to resolve the problem......

flywheel changed and the engine has the same problem. Could it be the coil ignition?

Find the solution of my problem: it was the stop engine button that cause parassite electricity in direction of the cdi. Note that the button was normally working!!!!Incredible!!!

Ugh, that stinks.  You replaced all that expensive working stuff only to have it be a $20 part.  That's usually how it goes though.  At least you have backups for all the other stuff now.
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?

the bummer about that, was I never suggested buying another one...just check it for cracks or chips.
