kx 250 or kx 250f for beginner
« on: June 14, 2015, 06:47:46 AM »
Hi everyone,
I am thinking of getting myself my first off-road bike for the main purpose of fun riding in the woods and maybe smallish jump. I will also sometime take it out on a MX track but not for racing just fun. Will maybe think of doing a bit of enduro later on. I am currently looking at the 2008 KX 250 and 2010 KX 250f and have no idea which one would be the best for me as a rider and what I want to use it for. I am fairly new to off-road but I am fairly skilled in on-road and I am capable of doing maintenance on the bike myself. I weigh about 165 lbs and I am about 5.9 ft tall. Hope to hear some opinions.
Thanks

There only one choice kx250f 2010 , there no such bike as a kx250 from kawi in 2010. the 250 f require more maintenance than 250 2t and 450 f , but if you set the head up with stainless steel valves and good valve guides and seats , stronger clutch springs and regular oil changes , piston and ring changes at 40 hr mark and of course clean and oil air filter after every big ride and they last well , I have a 09 250f as well that has 250 hrs on it and still going mind you its had all of the above plus more , in it earlier life it was raced hard , so that to be expected.

the kx250f as a easier to controll powerband making it a good choice for beginners (although a 125 migth be better) but the kx250 with its ligther weigh and more powerfull engine makes it a fun bike, but not a beginners bike, it migth also be easier to sell a 250f and buy a 250 after a year or so rather then realising that the 250 two stroke migth be to much and then have to sell it for a 250f

woods or small jumps = 4 stroke

Mx track = 2 stroke
