Shorter Kickstarter Lever.
« on: January 11, 2015, 07:33:22 PM »
After doing Larry's decompression mod, my bike starts like a dream, I noticed Brute asked in Larry's post if anybody had tried fitting a shorter kickstarter lever, has anybody? I have also considered this, is there some other shorter lever available that will fit onto the splined knuckle?

not that I'm aware of...the 250's kicker completely encloses the boss and uses a set screw for disassembly, and the 500's kicker has a snap-ring on the top of the boss for disassembly....and the shafts are different as well.

here's the 250...

here's the 500...

this doesn't mean you couldn't find another kicker from a completely different bike and be lucky enough for it to work.
maybe another member might know.

have a look at a honda cr kick starters, i have bought a 90's cr250 (longer) to put on my sons 96 cr125 (shorter) i had to separate the levers off the knuckles, and ended up with a 125 knuckle and a 250 lever, worked well..
