KLR 650 front master cylinder on 87 KX 250? Will it fit?
« on: October 06, 2014, 12:26:44 AM »
Hi All,

Does anyone know if this will work?

I found a 2014 KLR 650 master cylinder for cheap and want to use it.

Not sure about the banjo bolt though....can't find any sizes on the internet comparing my KX 250 against a KLR 650.

Check out banjo bolt part numbers for the KLR and KX.  If a match maybe a better indication you can swap them out.

Part numbers don't match, but an earlier KLR 650 has the same length.

If the thread pattern is the same but the length is shorter or longer, can it still work?

Or will the bolt not fit a different banjo on the brake line?

I don't know, I've never worked with brakes lines before.

banjo bolts are cheap - order one for the KLR and see how it stacks up.

I have a magazine test of the 95 kx125,  and it states that they used the master cylinder from  a klr650 to help improve the brakes. Probably would fit.

The KLR650's up to 2007 have a brake mount hole spacing of 89mm.
The 95 KX125 is 102mm.
Perhaps the newer KLR650's have a different spacing or someone used a adapter?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

What spacing are you talking about?

The two bolts that hold the caliper mount to the fork.
