replacing the gear shift lever shaft 87 kx 500

hi all i am lookig to replace the gear shift lever shaft due to old age and a crap spline I read somewhere on here that the later models 500 or 250 shfts might also fit only the spline is larger if so ca anyone point me to the right post or inform me if this is correct please s i would like to run the larger spline shaft . cheers in advance for any info recieved

Yep.
Use the 94-04 KX500 shift shaft P/N 13161-1203.
You will need the newer shift lever.
I used a Hammerhead shift lever for the 06 and newer KX450F with the 20mm offset for my boot size (12)
If you have a smaller boot you can use the standard offset or whatever as they make a few different offsets.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
