Carb hoses...where to get them
« on: August 28, 2014, 02:30:46 AM »
Hi All,

On my 87 KX250 there's 3 or 4 little hoses coming out of the carb....what size are these? and where can I buy them?

I would prefer to get a universal tube so I can just cut to the length I need...

dinky,

whatever you do, DO NOT get the Helix brand fuel line, it's aftermarket....stuff is garbage!
your local Kawie/bike dealer should have some decent aftermarket fuel line in stock.

Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

I'm willing to bet the brand new Helix are stiffer than your old ones :-o....I might as well have been trying to fit steel pipe.
The stuff was so stiff, it found it's way into the front sprocket of my 250 as it was trying to go back into it's rolled form as it came packaged....and it wiped out my sprocket seal, so tranny oil was dumping out.
I drained the oil twice through a paint strainer and found a bunch of chewed up vent hose.
So at that point I ordered the expensive OEM hoses...but have yet to swap em out yet.

I would expect the tubes to be flexible like latex....my tubes run through a metal bracket held on by one of the case bolts but I'll double check to make sure the tube stays put....

mine had the clamps that go into the front sprocket cover...it just didn't matter, the stuff was so stiff.
I could've gotten the shaft, and ended up with a package that was sitting on shelf for 10 years, who knows...but I'll never buy that brand again.

I got some pretty green, rubbery, see through gas line from my local chain saw / lawnmower shop. It's been on all summer and looks like new. No clamps needed.

My Keihin carb took all of 10 feet so estimate before you buy.

If you don't mind it being black instead of clear, then auto zone has plenty of tubing that'll work. I got it for .60 per foot, and I like how the black tubing looks. If you're a skin flint like me it's more than adequate
