« on: July 26, 2014, 02:56:49 AM »
Hi. I am quite sure that someone here can explain the differences between the 3 different ECU provided with my new 2014 KX250F.
I took delivery of my new bike two days ago, and i must admit, i dont really know what they are for... :?
thanks

The little book they give you should explain it, remember if you start putting a pipe or cams on it you have to get one of the chip that you don't use remapped or your exhaust valves will look like a sinker in no time , what I mean is these motors need more fuel when you start modifying them , they will run lean and melt the exhaust valves , seen it ,we have the kawi program to change the mapping , so beware. GEE I wished the big K kept there 250 2t in production ,would not need all this programing stuff plus the 2t much more reliable in the engine department.

What do you mean with 3 Ecu's?

The KX250F also has optional coupler plug-in caps. The green (standard), black (hard terrain) and white (soft terrain) couplers are interchangeable and greatly affect the KX250F’s engine characteristics. The black coupler is meant to be used on hard pack tracks, while the white coupler is best suited to loamy or sandy conditions where maximum power is necessary. The green coupler falls somewhere in between.
