Are you certain on that info? Dang I just bought a 1980 tranny.   All the stuff I read shows the 1980 as a 6 speed.  1980-84 all 6 speeds.  Im got on kawies parts fiche gonna compare gear for gear

That is the info I pulled up at partszilla.com
Just ask the guy you bought the trans from how many gears does it have.
You can physically count them..
If he counts 10 including the one that is part of the shaft then it is a 5 speed.


If he counts 12 including the one that is part of the shaft then it is a 6 speed.
