Water suckage

I posted this on another forum but thought I'd mention it here, too.  At last Sunday's hare scramble, one of the creeks was pretty deep and we had to cross it back and forth on each lap (5 laps in total).  Lap after lap, the first crossing of the creek kept getting a deeper as bikes chewed up the bottom, and the 4th time through it was probably more than two feet deep. On previous rides I had noticed the KX bog in deep water but didn't think much of it. But on this 4th pass through the creek, it bogged and died...right next to another guy on a KX250. The course workers helping us out mentioned that just about every KX was sucking up water through that section. It was suggested on the other forum on which I posted that one of the hoses that loops over the top of the carb be zip-tied to the shock or some other point higher up on the bike, so the carb can breath. We'll see....

I made my own carb canister like PC sells, runs a "t" so theres venting to the stock vent line and up by the tank on my 500 and under the seat on my 250.Ive crossed creeks up to my seat with out even a hesitation!
