So now that I got her cylinder honed, new rings, new top end gaskets, I think the clutch is worn. How do I know? Does anyone have a cross- reference chart? And also when the engine begins gets hot the clutch slips. Is that another sign ?

Okay, thats my next purchase. But until then I need to know how to get the kickstarter Post (
http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model_years/2443-kawasaki-1986-kx500-kx500-b2/assemblies/61691-kickstarter-mechanism
) PART #13061 ) off. I need to get that to slide off to see the clutch. It just wont budge. Is there a secret to getting that thing off? Thanks.

Get out a torch and heat it all around the bottom.
Every now and then we get one just like yours and it's the only way I have found to break them loose without a ton of work.

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
