engine mounting

hello gentlemen i need to know if the engine mounting holes are the same on the cases through out the different years i.e. will a 91 engine mount to an 86 frame
1989 zuki 500 zilla mx ported DR.Q pipe undercut gears and 41.5mm mikuni

85/86 KX500 death trap (restore)maybe

1986 honda XL600r all stock and red white and blue

no is the answer, you may get it to bolt in but the exhaust will not go on due the frame difference. 85 or 86 motor are your only
choices  an possibly 84

Jonny i think 89/on motor should fit in the 86 chassis ,
the only thing you might need is the 86 inlet manifold

no it wont (in the nicest possible way) :-D. the 86 and earlier had a single cradle frame where the exhaust went round the out side of the single down tube. the 87 on had a semi twin cradle where the exhaust went in between the 2 cradles. the engine may bolt in but the left side cradle tube will be directly over the exhaust port. below is the 86 and the 87 look at where the pipe comes out of the cylinder on each. also the exhaust fits directly in to the cylinder with no manifold. it could be done but major frame mods would be needed

 :-o iv got 125s on brain. been working on a couple today. ignore all i have said its BS. should have read the post properly, what a burk i am lol. sorry dave i think im losing it or already lost it. time for a break :roll:
yes 89 500 into 86 should be fairly easy
