Bike Trip in Sri Lanka
« on: November 24, 2010, 07:37:17 AM »
My friend and I just got back from a 19 day motorcycle trip in Sri Lanka.  Armed with a Sri Lankan road map and the Lonely Planet guide book it was a self guided trip at our own pace.  Some of the highlights were old ruins, the tea plantations, national parks, and beaches.  Here are a few pictures.

Did you see any Tamil Tigers while you were there?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

How about this.  Leopard in a tree waiting for something to eat.

Nice! But how did you do it with the bikes? Rented?  Cost?

The cost of the bikes were $20 (Yamaha XT600) and $25 (Honda Dominator NX650) per day which included insurance.  You could get smaller Honda XR250 Baja for $15 per day.  My friend and I split all costs.  Total for everything airfare, bike rental, hotels meals and drinks, gas, tours and taxis came out to about $2900 per person.
