1987 KX500 forks
« on: November 03, 2010, 01:46:07 PM »
I just got a 1987 KX500 and it was in pretty bad shape.  I replaced the forks seals and would like to check to see what the recommended fork oil setting is.  I would normally collapse the forks with springs out and fill 6 inches from the top.  Is there a recommended amount, and weight of oil?
Is there any Team Green  info for the 87 model?  I found some for my 2003 and it worked great for me.
So far I have replaced the chain and sprockets, air filter, rear tire, grip and levers, and a rear tire.  I also have a 2003 KX500  and they are very much different.  I like the lower seat on the old bike, and the side stand  but it vibrates a lot more that the 2003 bike.   My 2003 bike has a Gnarly pipe and it does pull lower in the powerband. I like both of them.
