« on: October 07, 2010, 06:29:35 AM »
Hi,I have a 06 kx 250. I don't like the way it turns....it hasn't grip on the front wheel! Plus the front forks are too stiff in the first and too soft at the end!  what I could do to improve that??  I installed RG3 triple clamps with 21,5 mm off set. what more? anyone has a valving shim for that bike? Every help is good!  Thaks a lot!

What I did was copy  Pro-Circuit unit, made the rear link 3mm longer ,Drop the rear end down, therefore giving you more trail for the front tyre to grip.

Doing this Changes the  head angle from 26 degrees to roughly to 27 degrees.

You can revalve the forks to be soft in the beginning and harder in the end, this helps it to turn better.

I also revalved my shock to resist it from  bottoming out.

I have done all these mods and more and have been happy with the results.

Yes,I did the copy of the Pro-Circuit linkage arms,3 mm longer,and It works well!  Plus I installed a RG3 triple clamps,with 21,5 off-set.

My problem is that the bike doesn't turn very well, has no much trail on the front wheel, and especially I don't like the front forks! too stiff at the beginning! i try to revalve,I improved the bottoming, but not the beginning! I don't know how to do it! Could you give me same advice for thr forks?   what other mods did you do?

orry for the bother, thank for the help!

might be a mix of oil/compression, have you tried upping the forks to make it turn quicker??

My biggest complaint about the KX250 bikes is the "Lack of Front End Bite". As you I have tried different clamps with little results. By far the best improvement is to use shorter pull rods/Dog Bones, with as little as 1mm shorter it is night & day difference for me, giving me confidence the front end is going to stick when you push it in there hard.
As far as you forks I dont have any recommendations other than to confirm proper spring rate & try different oil levels for the bottoming & back out on the compression for initial plushness.

I used to have similar issues untill I sent the forks and shocks out to Factory Connection for revalve. Best money I ever spent. Bike will do whatever I ask of it now.
