What's going on in your garage?
« on: August 25, 2010, 07:17:37 PM »
I just ordered a new piston for my 2000 250, only $600.00 top end I've ever done.  Last season even with a new wiseco piston the comp guage only showed 150 psi with the throttle wide open.  My cylinder was egg shaped and since I would have to helicoil a bunch of holes I went with a new jug, and pro-x piston.  I still have to get some swingarm Link bearings, front MC rebuild kit and get a radiator straightened.  What kind of wrenching have you guys been doing to your bikes?

I'm rebuilding a 91 kx250 got the cylinder bored because it was rusted from the previous owner letting it sit outside disassembled for over a year! Also the bottom end needs all new bearings and the crank needs to be rebuilt, a total mess, already cost me $500 cad for the cylinder work and a new piston :-( hope I can get the bearings fairly cheap somewhere.
The good thing really is that I got it all for free, will be a huge learning experience :-D

I'm waiting for my uncle to make a decision on his k5 cylinder, so I can put a new top end on it. In the mean time, today I am going to add 20cc's to each fork tube on my ktm 300. It was just re-valved and re-sprung for me and is a bit soft for my liking, they put the min amount of oil to start off, add to my liking. Next project is fresh fork oil in my girlfriend's bike. Than we are going to flush all the brakes on all the bikes, street and dirt. Hope we got time. We were loaned a vacula from the Ducati shop that she works at, so the brakes should be a snap. I better get off my @$$ and get to work.
