Hey K5 in Denver

So I just traded my Honda CRF 450R for a 2000 KX500, this bike is like brand new and is totally stock.  I'm changing that, starting with a V force 3, and a Ricochet offroad skid plate.  If any of you have any ideas on how to make this a better woods bike please let me know..

 Welcome GM,
   There has been so many things guys have tried here I wouldn't know where to begin.  I guess the first order of business is to get used to the way the bike handles, and then set it up for yourself as needed.
  For example, the tank will get the average guy about 45min.  Do you need more range? several options available...
Do you want more power? or just need to move the power available to suit your riding style?
   Are you willing to give up some top end to keep the bike in the power for single track speed?
Setting up the suspension will probably get you more smiles per dollar than engine mods as the darn thing will probably do 90 with stock gearing ! :lol:
  I guess what I'm getting at is take a few weeks to get a feel for where you think your bike would better suit your needs.  I think you'll find with a minimum of mods these old motocross bikes are about as good an all around bike as you can get without having one bike for each type of riding.
