Year 2000 front forks
« on: January 08, 2023, 06:20:50 PM »
I’ve learned the KX500 had some shotty front forks for some time after they made the switch to inverted. Better design, but poor quality. I’m trying to find out if it ever got straightened out and specifically if the forks from the 2000 KX500 were any good or at least decent and reliable. I’ve got a pair sitting aside and am looking to repurpose them to another bike if they aren’t so bad.

Any info is appreciated.

Have you looked at some later model SHOWA forks from KX 450s?

New valving, rebuilt and sprung for you and you will have a hard time out riding them.  Not just valve shim stack, the whole valve.

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
