KX 250????
« on: April 17, 2008, 03:36:35 AM »
Ok guys, I'm considering a new '07 KX 250. The local dealer has one and it is slowly eating away at my better judgement. I currently ride an '02 KX 500. I am a hardcore 2 smoke fan and can't really come to terms with the new valve machines. If I did however it would be a KLX 400 or DRZ 400 for some trail riding. This is the better judgement part. I'm not sure the wife would go for me having three bikes. Two possibly, but three... She has this "need" thing and it is hard to morph it into the "want" thing. Where's the fun in the simple existence of necessity? 8-)  I'm a wanna be charter member of the "He who dies with the most toys" club.  So give me some rider impressions. I ride a lot of track. Maybe some of you even have a 500 and can give me some pros and cons on both bikes. So lay it on me and don't sugar coat it. :-D

I have an 06, I don't like it but my son loves it. It seems that it has quite a bit of midrange hit and then great overrev. If you like track riding you'd probably like, trail riding I ride the 250f but my son rides the 250 and gets along with it really well. Suspension is really good, it has the twin chamber forks.

Thanks Don. So what is it that you don't like about it? I've never had one. I skipped right over it. I quit racing 125's in '78 and in the early '80's we got into Enduros and I bought a KDX 250 but that is an entirely different animal. In '88 I bought the KX5 and have been hooked ever since. I just thought that a 250 would compliment the 500 well.

I think it hits to hard in the middle and doesn't have enough on the bottom, maybe a fww would take some of that out. If you like that kind of powerband then you'll love the bike

Thanks again Don. I think I'm going to pass on the KX. I'm starting to consider the KXF. Now I just have to decide 250 or 450. Decisions decisions
