New guy from Down Under - '84 KX500
« on: February 22, 2008, 10:58:31 AM »
Hi all.
I'm not exactly new to KX's but I have recently bought back my KX500A2 that I bought new in 1984.
Not sure how much you guys are into the old stuff, but I'm trying to put together a register of all 1984 KX500's that may still be living in the world. There won't be many as there weren't a lot built from new. But I'm interested none the less.
If anyone has one, or know's of one, would you be good enough to get in contact please?
I'd like to get engine and frame numbers, names and locations and even a photo if possible.
Thanks in advance.
Tony.

Sorry to take so long to reply, fellas. I've been away riding some new bikes for the week.  :-D Very fun................
Crusty, I'm afraid to say that it doesn't look that good any more, but it will one day. I've been buying up NOS bits and over winter (that's June, July, August down here) I hope to get it together.
And Stewart, yes, the KX420 is one very cool looking bike.  8-)

Good deal Tony.  I am also quite partial to finding the old ones and bringing them back to life.  I have an '86 that had sat for years with water in the oil.  $13 and some elbow grease later I had a great running beast of a bike.  Never had it out of third gear though...
