By heavy strip that holds it on, I hope you don't mean the flatbar that bolts on so you can tighten it with a 1/2 square drive??
I think there is enough meat on a steahly to turn down the outside and the face surface a bit. Cam.

To tell you the truth Cam, I really haven't had time to study it yet. I just got my Bridgeport and Lathe moved over to my shop this week and I have been leveling and dialing them back in. I am going to wire in the 3 phase converter and get them running this weekend. Then LOOK OUT! I be Machining again!
Do you really thing the flat bar has to be that beefy?
