Not sure of your fitness level or food preferences,  but getting plenty of protein and carbs is essential.  Start the night before and the morning of.

Arm pump,  mental awareness,  or general weakness?  I think a big thing that will keep you from getting drained is 50% your body gear prep/food maintenance and 50% your bikes setup.

For your body: get a good helmet that is light and fits well,  gloves that aren't too tight and restrict blood flow which causes some arm pump,  boots that feel like they are part of your body and don't impede shifting/braking/flexing or wanting you to put your foot down.

For the bike: work on the suspension,  power band,  steering stabilizer,  seat height/softness,  handle bar height/bend,  grips, and lever lengths and positioning.
