water in my kids 2006 kx 65 gear box
« on: June 28, 2006, 03:56:09 PM »
Hey out there I am new to kxriders.com, so I hope I am posting this right.  I am noticing milky white
oil on the clear glass where you check the crank case oil.  Please help with any suggestions
Thank you.

Joshua,
That is a typical sign of a leaking waterpump seal.  That is unusual for a 2006 model; Usually they last quite a few years.  You will have to change the seal before the water contamination ruins any of the bearings.  If you are mechanically  inclined is it fairly easy and the parts are inexpensive, basically a side cover gasket, waterpump gasket and a seal.  Hope this helps. Cam.

Joshua, welcome to the forum! I like the name. I am also impressed it has water in it already with it being so new. Did somebody bury it in water? pressure washed it? Sometimes water goes down the crank breather. If no to all, it is your waterpump seal and is a breeze to replace.

Gowen has a good point. Maybe change the transmission oil and ride it a bit to see if the milky oil happens again before doing any work. Welcome to the forum.  Cam.

My sons RM 65 did the same thing, I found that the breather tube for the crankcase was blocked shut. I also stopped pressure washing after every ride. I just pressure wash after mud rides.
The torch has been passed; Father to Son. He is faster!!!

check coolant level, change trans oil ride and rechech.  On my sons 99 kx60 found cracked plastic 90 degree vent fitting allowing water in when pressure washing.if you do have a bad seal, i reccommend ordering two seals (if you have problems getting parts like we do up here in the white mountians of arizona) in case one gets ruined on install  :|
