Blowing oil
« on: October 05, 2020, 09:11:06 AM »
Hi guys new hew here, some good I for here.
I have an 06 450f that is blowing all the oil out of the exhaust. I started the bike the night before a ride and went fine. The next day at the ride went to start it and it was basically locked up, it moved a bit then locked. Figured the cam chain was stretched so I pulled it down replaced the timing chain, piston and rings due to the piston having a small mark in the top from a valve. Now when I start it it is smoky as hell and lots of oil out the exhaust. Sounds like it runs well and is easy Enough to start. I thought maybe the rings were upside down but checked and they are good. I put new stem seals on while I had the head apart after the initial start was blowing the oil with no fix. Any ideas? Thanks.

I hate four strokes so hopefully someone else will reply  :-o

I think your first clue is the mark on the old piston from the valve.
How could they possibly touch?
Too thick of a shim?
Valve stem stretched?
Timing chain slipped?
I would check the valve clearance and check how straight the valve is that touched.
I would check all the valves while you are at it.
Hopefully a 4T guy will respond with some better info.

Darn valve slingers...   :x

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Did you take the stator timing cover off as there a seal in there that can be damage if you dont put the cover on square ,it will cause oil problems and the seal must be replaced is that mark on piston from valve or the mark to show you that it go to the front of engine?make sure the valve stem seals are seated right down as well as that can result in smoken. make sure valve collects are in properly and make sure valve springs make spring length spec , replace all even if one fails as the other are not far behind .Hope this helps.
