Which bike was better , or did you have to put 1 teeth larger rear sprocket for mxa crew to like it.

I just got the Feb issue of MXA and the review of both bikes is there! 72h.p. out of the KX500! Sounds like Sandblaster had some trick work done to the power valves. His bike blew the base gasket early on. Must have been from all that pressure from the forced induction crank  :-D

Lol... Yeah it was quite the freak out that is for sure... All these Industry big wigs standing around joking and asking if we could do their top end next  :-o
The compression wasn't much, approx 14:1 but the reason it went is because it pulled a few head studs and blew the head gasket.
That happens sometimes when you are using 20+ year old cylinders  :-D
Thankfully we had a backup cylinder on hand.
Because it's a conversion bike removing and replacing the top end isn't as easy as it is on a KX500.
But we pulled the other cylinder off, pulled mine off, swapped them and Jason even fixed the front flat tire all in about 45 minutes.
It's amazing how fast you can spin a wrench when you have people standing around jeering  :-D :-D :-D

So was the backup cylinder ported to the same specs by T Morgan as well? Are you able to post the dyno data and and other details behind what it took to get that kinda power besides 14:1, port timing changes and the induction crank?

Tom Morgan bored my cylinder and machined some material from the bottom for me.
He did not do any porting.
All the porting was done by Jason Tanner and I.
I roughed in the cylinder and valves.
Jason pimped and polished them up.

The back up cylinder was done completely by Jason Tanner.

Because we have other projects that are relying on the data we are developing I can't release any more data at this point.
I would love to but sometimes you just gotta keep your info to yourself until it is no longer relevant  :-D
I don't know how MXA came up with our dyno numbers but someone slipped and it was not me
But in reality it is only a number lol.

I will say this.
This engine is a work in progress.
Even if I gave you all the specs you would have a VERY difficult time duplicating it.
Jason and I probably have close to a 100 hours or more just redesigning the valves.
The Induction Crank completely changes everything that has been done in the past.

We are working very hard to further enhance what we have done and get the most bang for the buck... Cost analysis.
I have a new cylinder ready to go for testing.
I just need to find the time to sit down and get it ready for the dyno.
We have a great starting place...
Now we need to refine until we are happy.
So, stay tuned.

So, what's next  :-D

Actually, a few things..
First I need to prep the bike for the "One Moto Show" in Portland Or Feb 7-9th.
My pipe was a bit trashed after Glen Helen so I sent it out to Pacific Crest Pipe Repair in Medford Oregon and had him do some work.
It came back BEAUTIFUL!!
I wish I had sent it out BEFORE the shootout.
Oh well..

To get those cone pipe welds back to 'almost like new' i take a small bitane torch to my scalvini pipe and take a few hours to slowly heat each one back to color. Heat cycles and cleaner tend to take the bluing out of it... however,  it is paper thin and light so i have to send it in for dent repair every season. Wished they made a carbon guard for it.

This vid was shot by Adam Millar who's bike we ran against in the MXa shoot out,
It takes about 12 min to get going..
As you can hear and see we had it going much better in the afternoon with the new top end on it.  8-)

Arik Swan has made a few changes to accommodate his large 6 foot 4 inch frame for the National 2T Championships at Glen Helen this weekend...
No, We didn't build it to sit on a shelf and look pretty  8-)
