Do not use - How to post pictures from photobucket
« on: January 14, 2012, 07:46:49 AM »
As of July of 2013 KXRiders won't be hosting their own pics.
This is done in an effort to keep the cost down.
Because of this a lot of people are asking how to post pictures on this site.
So I thought I would show you how I do it.
I am not going to show you every option or every possible configuration.
For that, you will need to go take some computer classes
You will first need a picture hosting service.
There are many different picture hosting services available.
I use www.photobucket.com.
Why?
Because I started using it years ago and I'm use to it :-)
First off you will need a photobucket account so go to www.photobucket.com and create one.
You should also have some pics on your computer.
Once you are done creating a account you should see a screen that looks like this:

If you have a new account you will not have any pictures in it yet.
To upload pics, click on the "Upload" button.

Make sure these settings are correct.

Every computer operating system will look a little different.
Since I don't have access to all the different operating systems you will need to know how to browse to where your pics are on your computer that you want to upload. if you don't know how to browse your computer get your wife or kids to help  :-D

Next, you need to pick one or more pics to upload.
I have selected one pic to upload.
You can tell I have selected a single pic because there is a small mark in the upper left corner of the pic and it is slightly highlighted.
Remember, in this example I'm using Windows 7 operating system so your screen might look a little different but, the basic principal is the same.

You can hold down your "Shift" button down and select multiple pics to upload at one time.
Once you have selected the pics you want to upload, click the "Open" button one time.

Depending on your internet speed and the size and amount of pics you selected this might happen very quickly or it may take a while.
As you are downloading you can see a progress bar as shown below.

Once you are done downloading you should now see a screen that looks like this.
Your picture or pictures should appear.
To select which pic you want to upload, double click on the picture.

The pic you double clicked on looks much larger and you see several option to the right.

Click on the "Direct" link as shown below.

After you clicked in the "Direct" link box you will see "Copied" flashing in the box.

Now for the easy part  :-D
Go to KXRiders and place your cursor where you want the pic to appear.
Then click on the "Insert Image" button as shown below.

Once you have clicked on the "Insert Image" button, you will now see the blinking on the screen as you can see below.

Next, move your cursor to the upper left corner of your screen and click first on "Edit" and then when the drop down box appears, click on "Paste"

When you are done, click on the save button.

Perfect!

At first this seems like a long drawn out process.
But once you get use to it you can do it in just a minute or two.
Any suggestions?
Feel free to ask...

I use http://imgur.com/

Click "computer" at the top right of the screen to upload a picture.  Find your picture on your computer, click start upload, and then right click copy and paste the link provided (you'll want the one that already has [img] tags for message boards).

Photobucket is great for hosting and sharing online albums, but imgur is much faster for posting a picture or two.
