Clutch fitment

When pressing new clutch basket to gear on the back. Should the gear sit flush inside the basket?? Mines sat back about 3mm and think it's making the basket sit to far forward and not getting enough clutch pull etc

the small cog on the picture you have put up which fits into the basket does that have to fit flush on the otherside of the basket. that small cog has teeth which slide into basket ie pressed in

It's a kx 250 1992 model. Il get some pics loaded up tonight after work.
