1983 KX250 C1
« on: May 13, 2014, 02:01:45 AM »
250 is coming along: Engine rebuilt, chassis overhauled with all new bearings, forks rebuilt with new Race Tech Emulators and Eibach springs, and shock rebuilt with new valving by M.E.I. in Michigan. Looking forward to riding it soon!

Forks feel way too stiff when pushing on them in the garage. Might just be friction from the new bushings. We'll see...

Post race update: Finally finished the 250 last Wednesday. Then drove to NY from MI on Thursday without even riding it for the race at Unadilla. Had some carb  issues but had it running well by Sunday.

Raced the 83 125 in Moto 1 on Saturday and the 83 250 in Moto 2 on Sunday

After Moto 2 Sunday

Went 4-4 in the motos for fourth overall, had a great time, and can't wait to go back!

And the 250 forks were pretty darn good!

Get that thing done and ride it.
You may be pleasantly surprised at how the front end feels when it's done.
Then, give us a ride report with video
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Will do! My plan is to race it at Log Road MX in Bronson, Mi on the 26th to see how it goes and then take it to Unadilla for the Rewind. Registered for the promoter's "Retro" class. Too new for any of the AHRMA classes. AHRMA seems to have something against green bikes with front disk brakes because the 82-83 Hondas, Suzukis, and Yamahas get to play but the Kawas don't. :?

About 12 hours from Grand Rapids, MI if I go through Ohio. I have family with a place near Walton, NY and that is only about an hour away.
