KX500AF/CR500 ride today!

Mike buys a CR500! I'm on my KX500AF! It was one degree above freezing today. Wasn't to bad except for the hands! We're desert rats and can handle some heat but not the cold! Hands were throbbing with pain and hard to work the controls. We lasted about an hour and a half all together and then sought some shelter!

little trick i learned some time back, put on some rubber gloves (like surgical gloves ect) under your normal gloves, will eliminate the wind chill on your hands. works great

Think I'll try that! Our hands were the only thing hard to deal with! Everything else was manageable. Normally don't ride in these temps.

It was his second ride on the CR500 so he's still trying to figure it out. I suggested he ride a gear high until he gets used to it. I might be able to talk him into a drag race soon though! Just based on todays ride I'm sure I can pull him on the top end! Didn't see what his gearing was but I think he was running a 50 on the rear as he seemed to have just slightly more pull in the deep sand. Mine is stock 14/47. When I let him in front I got roosted pretty good and ate some sand so I kept my distance because I didn't want my camera taken out!

Looks like fun,I've got a pair of Rubber gloves with a liner built in em,they work good for those colder days,they are made by Ansell.The ones I got are kinda bulky after using mx gloves but you get used to it,They make a crapload of different designs,They keep the heat in and cold out just fine plus they are waterproof. I could only dream of temps near freezing right now,That's pretty near perfect weather for a ride

Took a look at the Ansell site! Quite a selection of gloves! They even sell penis gloves (condoms)! Lol!

 Best pair of gloves I've bought to this date are a pair of KLIM Dakar gloves. there about 40 bucks super tuff super comfy and semi warm for winter and cool enough for our summers. Witch a cheap secret the warming your hands is to wear a pair of roppers gloves over your mx gloves, not a fashion statement but works awesome, been in 15-20 deg weather and had warm hands.
