KIPS Accuator
« on: June 06, 2013, 04:40:32 PM »
Got the cases pulled down ready for a rebuild after a tragic hemorrhage that basicly trashed the whole engine, and found the PO has removed the KIPS acctuator stuff.

 2 Questions: Q1- Why would you do this ? and why did'nt I realise this ? (Owned 2 Kx500s)

Q2- Is the accuator available as an assembly at all ?

thankyou for your time, as you were.

I'll take q 2....
No, you won't find them new as an assembly.
You might find a used set up on eBay.
What year is your engine?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

When I got my bike I also found that the previous owner had removed the governor, actuator arm & there were no valves even in the cylinder, I realized why when I went & got the missing parts from him.
One of the retaining bolts for the middle valve was stripped & the other one came loose, something then fell into the exhaust port & clipped the piston, it damaged the bore & they welded it up & had it recoated, the valves would no longer fit due to the welding.
It took me a whole day with a die grinder to get the valves to fit again, but I was not happy, so I ordered a whole new jug, head, valves & basically all of the top end from Service Honda, brand new, now I'm happy, send me a message with what you need, I have a lot of good spares still left & I'll see if I've got what you need.

Cool cheers for the replies, guys. Was counting on getting a whole new assembly as the rest of the engine will be near enough to new also but I wont be closing down options to good 2nd hand stuff if new is riddiculous money or unobtanium.

Which brings us to question 3: Are all KIPS parts still available new on the shelf ?
