Cylinder Pictures
« on: April 12, 2013, 06:53:53 AM »
Finally took my head off to have it sent to Larry Wiechman for his magic, and for the amount of use this bike now had, I think the cylinder looks pretty good. Also, looks like Team Green used sealant on the head gasket (I bet it's Hondabond HT), and what a mess it leaves. I might just used permatex copper spray, but what do you guys think? Go with the Hondabond HT again. I have the OEM steel had gasket (11004-1187, t = 0.2).

Looks pretty good. I've had good luck with the copper spray. I try not to use hondabond on the head gasket. It tends to make the coolant passages smaller or over time goes through the cooling system and plugs up the radiator. With the heat the 500 makes that is a bad idea.
It's hard to keep a drivers license riding a 2 stroke dirt bike on the street.  If you drive within the law they are VERY boring.
